About the Acts…

THE WHISPERS

A veteran R&B quintet with an impressive legacy of hits, The Whispers celebrate more than 4 decades of beautiful, enduring music. As one of R&B music’s most beloved and consistently popular vocal groups, they began their legendary and timeless career in 1963, producing a string of hits over the last four decades. The group emerged as the leading romantic singers of their generation, racking up one gold album after another and charting numerous R&B hits.

Arguably the most celebrated R&B balladeers of their generation, The Whispers still make women swoon with their silky yet forceful tenors of twins Walter and Scotty. In the new millennium The Whispers still perform around the world to thousands of loyal fans. They have not made any personnel changes and the group still consists of Walter Scott, Wallace Scott, Nicholas Caldwell, and Leaveil Degree. The Whispers are one of only a few “old school” groups that can boast of having over 40 years in the industry with a worldwide fan base, maintaining their vocal dominance and original members. Their music has been heard on movie sound tracks such as “Waiting to Exhale” and “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” and they sang the title track on Jay Leno’s movie soundtrack “Collision Course”.

Over 40 years of R & B and pop favorites later, spanning more than 3 dozen albums, the group has achieved numerous honors and distinctions.

JEFFREY OSBORNE

Jeffrey Osborne launched his professional singing career in 1969 with the popular funk & soul group, Love Men Ltd. In 1970, the group moved to Los Angeles and changed their name L.T.D. Originally brought on as the drummer, Jeffrey eventually became the lead vocalist. After 10+ years with the band, he decided to pursue a solo career, which led to Top 40 hits including “Don’t You Get So Mad,” “Stay With Me Tonight,” and “Love Power,” a duet with Dionne Warwick.

Rhode Island-born Osborne was the youngest of 12 children and grew up surrounded by music. His father, Clarence “Legs” Osborne who died when Jeffrey was just 13, was a popular trumpeter who played with Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington and Count Basie. Despite his early passing, his father had the greatest influence on Osborne’s musical career and that of a few of his siblings. His oldest brother, Clay is a singer and pianist and is brother Billy is a songwriter and producer in LA.

Jeffrey Osborne’s solo career has garnered him 5 gold and platinum albums, including Stay With Me Tonight and Only Human. He also recorded an album of duets with James Ingram and in 1982 scored an international hit with “On the Wings of Love.” After his 8 albums released on A&M during the 1980s, he moved to Arista for Only Human (1990) and then switched to a series of indie labels. His releases during the 2000s and 2010s include That’s for Sure (2000) and Music Is Life (2003), plus the albums From the Soul (2005) and A Time for Love (2013) containing his covers of popular hits.
